recipes

I have never professed to being a good cook. You know someone actually told me that Hamburger Helper was not really cooking. Now, I know that popping a frozen pizza into the oven isn't really cooking but come on, I actually have to mix ingredients into Hamburger Helper and I have to brown the hamburger (a part which I hate) and that, my friends, is cooking. Anyway, I thought it might be nice to get some recipes from people. As you can see I'm no chef so they need to be simple and they need to use ingredients that are common. Kid friendly recipes are nice too since children are 1/3 of who I am cooking for. I have an easy recipe for cheesecake if anyone wants it. I'll have to go look it up but it is really simple and yummy.

I have a very simple one for you.
2 tins of soup, ones of course you all like. half a pound of any kind of beef ( you'll cooking it very slowly on a low heat for around 4 hrs so it tenderizes) and dice it into small chunks. One onion optional cause of kid! one and a half cups of mixed vegetables of your choice.

Toss them all into a casserole dish, wack it in the oven on around 100C ( don't know farenhight thingy) and cook for 4 hours .
Just before ready to serve, cook up 2 cups of rice or pasta to accompany it!

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

That sounds wonderful! And easy, even better. The onion should be ok, our little guy isn't too picky... if you could see him that would be obvious. In fact, he taught Steve's son to stand at the kitchen gate and beg for food when we were there for a visit. Thanks for the recipe!

Simple barbeque marinade:
3/4 cup coca-cola (not pepsi)
3/4 cup ketchup (Heinz, not Del Monte, Hunt's, or any other tripe)
2 chopped onions
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce. Has to be Lea and Perrins. If it's not Lea and Perrins, it's crap.
1 tsp paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tsp chili powder
3 tbsp oil

Mix all the ingredients together. Put some pork ribs in a slow cooker (such as Crock-pot), cover the bottom, then pour some sauce over it, then add more ribs, then add more sauce. cook all day, and enjoy at dinner time.

The barbeque sauce can be used on all sorts of stuff - I grill hamburgers with it.

That reminds me of Bapa and his mustard on ice cream.

Broiled White Fish

2 lbs. white fish filets, such as tilapia
2 Tbsp. mayo
1/2 c. parmesian
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
a few dashes of Tabasco

Grease a broiling pan. Place the filets on the pan. Mix the last four ingredients and spread over the top of the fish. Broil for 6-10 minutes depending on thickness of fish. Fish will be flakey and topping will (hopefully) be lightly browned.
