Well here I am at my mom's house. I'm taking a break from cleaning. I clean every other week for her and she pays me. This month's money is going towards my husband's birthday gift. His mom, my mom and I are all contributing to the purchase of a new Playstation 2 for him. He has one but before we entered the current millenium and bought a dvd player we used the Playstation to watch dvds and it screwed it up. Only one game works in it now. I think he will be happy.
So here I am. Jack is asleep in his portable crib in my mom's room. I brought my little dog Franchesca who is a mini-dachsund and she is trying to play with my mom's new dog. Phoebe is a tiny little thing, a Rat Terrier mix although she looks more like a Jack Russell. She's about a year and a half the vet guesses and she is nine pounds. She has a couple of holes in the roof of her mouth that make it impossible for her to breathe through her nose and she's missing some toes. Since she breathes through her mouth (dogs usually breathe through their noses unless they're panting) she snorts a lot. It is soooo cute. I was changing Jack's diaper and Phoebe kept jumping around him snorting so he laughed and snorted back at her.
They think that Phoebe was pretty abused. They're not sure if that's how she got the holes in the roof of her mouth or not but she's very timid. Hopefully she'll get over that soon. She keeps running to me and putting her paw in the air. I think that's how she tells me she wants a treat because when I get up she herds me to the table where her treats are. Well I better get back to work before Jack wakes up.

Yikes, my daughter uses her playstation to watch dvd's in too! I hope hers doesn't blow up, she took 8 months to save for it.
The litle dog sounds so adorable. I can't even begin to understand how people can abuse animals like that, it disgusts me.
Phoebe was adopted (by me) from Ratbone Rescue. I knew I wanted an adult dog - I don't have the energy to deal with a puppy anymore - but she is actually younger than I thought I would get. She is a sweetie, doesn't like to get very far away from me. Already, after only 3 days, the cowering is happening less and less often. A rescued dog seems like the way to go. At least, it looks like a good choice for me.
Michelle- Well we've had ours for nearly 4 years. It only took 3 to start having problems. I guess it's hard on the disk reader or something. We got a cheap DVD at Walmart so that we won't damage it any further.
Mom-Yeah Phoebe is a sweetie. Jack just loves her. It was funny last night when he put dog food in my hand and tried to eat it out of my hand like Phoebe did. He didn't like the way it tasted though.
