Our Trip

Well we went down for a not so nice reason but ended up having an ok time. It started out kind of rough but ended up being a nice weekend. Our trip down was uneventful in our "new to us" car. We were 20 miles from our destination when we stopped at a rest area to "rest" as my nephew might say. When we were ready to go and started up the car it died. I checked the gas gauge and it registered 1/4 of a tank so we figured it must be something else that was wrong. I was in just a tiny bit of a panic but after calling our mechanic, my dad and some other people we figured out that the gas gauge doesn't work. What a relief.

Brett's aunt Casi (same pronunciation as my name, wrong spelling) was there. It was nice because we hadn't seen her since I was pregnant with Jack so she got to meet him for the first time. We drove down to Castella, California on Saturday to scatter the ashes. It was a lot of driving in a relatively short period of time which can tend to wear a person out. Brett's great aunt and uncle drove up from south of LA which is a lot longer drive than what we did so I'm not complaining... much. I'm just glad that Brett got to be with his family. He and his mom and sister lived with their Granny and Papa for most of the time while they were growing up so they were close.

We did a little letterboxing as a diversion for the girls. It was fun to go in a different area. They loved it and we got them set up with a little kit so that they can go with their grandpa down there. They are all excited to go boxing with us when they come up. We found one box that had clues to ten other letterboxes in the same area. We found all of them, which is pretty good. A lot of times you don't find all of the boxes you set out for. Some of them get lost or thrown away and sometimes the terrain has changed so the landmarks that are mentioned in the clue aren't there anymore. It's a big disappointment when you've hiked a long way and you don't find the box.

Well I'm going to get going. I've got laundry and unpacking to attend to.
