So yesterday, I'm at work and I'm told that I need to buy ice cream for a barbeque that some of our engineers our attending that is being hosted by the construction crew that is doing the facilities contracting at our plant. And we need the ice cream in less than 24 hours. Now, lets keep in mind that we are paying them millions of dollars to do this work and they've taken over the entire plant and we can't park closer that 2 city blocks to our building but what the hey, lets buy them ice cream too. And it can't be any run of the mill ice cream either. It has to be Haagen Dazs (said with a very snooty British/Hamptons type accent). And since Haagen Dazs only comes in pints we need 30 of them. And it can't just be plain old Haagen Dazs, it has to be something that will "complement lemon cake"(Give me a break! These are construction workers! Not the Ladies Christian Temperance Union! They probably haven't heard of Haagen Dazs!) They specified the flavors so off I went to order the ice cream from Albertson's since they could deliver it in the morning and I wouldn't have to worry about storing it over night. After just barely getting it scheduled onto the truck I find out (since I'm not an ice cream "Connoisseur" I don't know these things) that Haagen Dazs Vanilla comes in quarts too. And they don't want the inconvenience of scooping the ice cream out of pint size containers when they could do it from quarts instead. I thought how interesting that was since I could get ice cream from a number of different places and it could come in one big container-but then it wouldn't be Haagen Dazs. So I call Albertsons and they can add 7 quarts of vanilla but they cannot remove the 15 pints, I would have to refuse that at the door. And since I was not going to be at the building that it was being delivered to and I didn't know for sure who would be, that was not a viable option. I said fine, they'll just have to deal with pints, at least it's Haagen Dazs and not that Dreyer's crap. Then there's the problem of who would initially pay for this purchase and then be reimbursed 6 months later. I said "Not I!" The person requesting the purchase begrudgingly gave over her credit card. So here is an order with my co-workers name (because it was supposed to be her procurement in the first place but she asked me to do it), my email address and phone number (because I was coordinating) and another coworkers credit card. Albertsons didn't blink, as long as the charge went through, I guess. Makes you trust your card number to them, doesn't it?

Anyhow, it was delivered with no incident and put in an ice freezer down at the other end of the plant. This afternoon I received an email asking me to find a better place for it because they didn't need it today after all. SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH!

In brighter news....

I got Jack dressed yesterday morning and I wanted to make sure the outfit still fit him right cause I bought it last year. So I said, "Stand back and let me look at you." and he replied, while straightening his collar, "I so sweet!" I said "Yes you are!" I love how he is so confident in his self worth. I know that there will come a day when people will try to chip it away piece by piece and I like to know he has sufficient supplies. So I will continue to tell him how wonderful he is, everyday, several times a day.

The other day in the car I asked him where my kiss was and he told me "It's up in sky, mom." Apparently it's with the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

We went to dinner a few nights ago and Jack was drinking his Chocolate Milk and when it was gone he wanted more. I told him he could have Chocolate Water instead. He got the water and drank it and said "Mmm, I like chocolate water!".

Thanks, although according to one of my DH's friends, they were surprised that he was good on our outing to their house last week because he usually throws fits. (they see him extremely rarely and usually during his tired times) He's two and for crying out loud! Two year old's throw fits. I can't wait till his daughter is that age. I'm going to have to really fight the urge to comment on it.

Cas, maybe if you say something back it will teach them to stop commenting on Jack. I suppose it's as what you have said (I think) in a previous post once, people wiht out kids tend to pretend (or forget) how it was/is to have a toddler in the home. Liam is starting to do the wobbly tanty bit too now, he's best is to bump his head, i just ignore it for now.
