What a nice weekend

We had a really nice weekend. On Saturday Jack and I hung out with Gramma at her house while DH went paintballing. That evening we went to a Mexican restaurant and had Jack's birthday dinner which he didn't eat. They sang to him and took a picture with a sombrero (sp?) on his head and gave him a free dessert which he didn't eat.

Sunday we went for a drive down to Ft. Columbia which is a spot my friend and I drove to when I was about 16. Long story short; she drove Gramma's car off a cliff. We were fine.
Anyway, we visited that site briefly because it was freezing and then drove into Astoria, OR to try and find a gas station. We were also going to look for a letterbox but then we saw a sign for the Seaside Aquarium and it said you can feed the seals so we went there. It was fun. The seals barked at us, slapped their bellies and one of them even splashed us repeatedly until we fed it. The sad thing was there were like 11 seals in a tiny pool; smaller than most motel swimming pools. I feel sort of bad for supporting that by paying to go in. I know there are quite a few "aquariums" like this but they can't be happy homes for the animals. There wasn't much else to see besides the seals. We waited forever for some rude guy and his kids to let Jack look at the animals in the touch tank. Jack was very gentle while holding a baby hermit crab and while petting some anemones. I had to go to the bathroom so we walked (ok I ran, I had to go!!) down to the "turnaround" where there are steps down to the beach. Boy was it cold. Jacky insisted on walking out to the water and his poor face and hands were just red from being so cold. We hadn't dressed him in wintery clothes, we didn't expect to be exposed to the elements like that. He had fun stepping on dried seafoam and watching the kites flying above. Then we drove the 150 miles back home.

Yesterday DH had to work so Jack and I spent a lazy day at home doing laundry and watching cartoons. We went outside for awhile when it wasn't pouring and Jack fed the birds some 7 year old popcorn from a large collectible beer bottle. He rode his "motorcycle" up and down the street. It was a nice day. I didn't leave the house except to go outside for that little while.

Hope everyone else had a nice President's Day weekend.

Our weekend was nice too, the boys went shooting rifles LOL, seem our boys had guns on their minds. I went shopping with my daughter and Liam but he sort of screamed and spoiled the day a bit, not wanting to sit in his stroller any longer but walking ends up in a disaster too, he want to touch and take everything!!
Happy Birthday to Jack.

Happy belated birthday to Jack! So sorry for the seals too..doesn't sound like a good place to live. You've started feeling the urge to empty the bladder? Already?
