The Spirit of Washington Dinner Train is amazing. I've been twice for my birthday. Once was last year, we went with Jack and Gramma. It was so much fun. Jack loved it. And once was right before we found out I was pregnant with Jack.
The train goes from Renton to Woodinville with a stopover at a winery. Last year we hid a letterbox at the winery. I want to go again. Unfortunately we can't afford it since I'll be on bedrest soon. And not only that, but it's going away. The railway that they use is going away. Something to do with Rails to Trails or something like that. I'm so sad about it. I just love that ride. It's so special and magical. I found out the last day is July 31st. They've been trying to move the train to a different area for the past few years due to the railway closing, but nothing has panned out on that so far. Last I heard they are going to just close it.
The first time we went, before I knew I was pregnant, we rode the Mystery Train. There were actors on the train, only we didn't know who was an actor and who wasn't. (It became apparent quickly-due to the amount of overacting). As the ride progressed the story unfolded and on our tour of the winery I discovered the body of the "victim" who was murdered during the stopover. My DH was called upon to act out the behavior of a southern belle at one point in the evening. He spoke in a high pitched southern accent and had to walk like he was wearing high heels. It was funny. At the end we got to try and figure out who among us was a murderer.
Last year we just went on the regular train ride since we had Jack. We went during lunch and it was so much fun. I'm going to miss it.
