Garage Sale

We're having a garage sale. It's only 35 degrees but we're doing it anyhow. We planned for it and even got the required permit. I made up the signs last night while it was snowing. And today we're having the sale. We've been open about 2 1/2 hours and have made about 25-30 dollars. Fridays are always the big seller days. I'm not sure why that is, but it's always been like that when we have yard sales. We took mom's suggestion and are offering complimentary hot coffee. No one has taken us up on it but I'm sure it doesn't hurt to offer it.

Our biggest sale item so far has been our old vacuum. I assumed when my DH asked about selling it, that he would empty the dirt out of the dust collector. It sold anyhow, for $10.00. Jack was maaaaaaaad! He screamed "No! Mine bacuum!!" and threw himself on the ground kicking as the nice gentleman took it away, all the time looking back like he was having second thoughts. We assured Jack that, no, his vacuum was in the house. It didn't help. We finally got him calmed down when we let him drag his sled around the bare pavement and then bring it in the house. What I'm wondering is; where in the world does he get this unnatural attachment to vacuums? Whenever we see one he gets excited and he yells at me to every day telling me to vacuum.

I wonder if it's my fault. When he was a little little boy he was scared of it so I would get it out and act all excited about it and laugh and dance while I vacuumed until he got used to it. I know for certain that it's not genetic, at least not from my side of the family. Anyway, I'm off to sell some more junk.
TaTa!

I hope you sell everything. I think hot coffee is a great idea. Hope Jack enjoys the snow :)

Well the snow was gone the same day it came down but he did enjoy it and he keeps saying " 'now gone". What we don't sell we're donating to Goodwill, we just want to get rid of it. Hope you're enjoying your "winter" weather :)

Our boy is terrified of vacuums, but he's got the Girl's old toy vacuum, which he loves. He runs through the house cleaning everything, and running into mom's feet.

We made about $40. A lot less than we've made at previous garage sales. Well maybe the weather was a little too nasty for people. Oh well, lesson learned. It also might have helped if I hadn't gotten the flu and left the garage sale and childcare duties to my DH who closed the sale early on Saturday and didn't reopen
