We had a lovely day today. First Jack slept in until about 8:30 and even though my DH was going to get up with him originally, I did because I was already awake and didn't feel like hanging out in bed all day. My DH got up about 15 minutes later and made a big breakfast for my mom and I (Jack had already eaten since he can't wait that long after getting up, but he had a "bikit" or biscuit in laymen's terms.) Then we went to get our oil changed and headed off to a nearby animal refuge for an afternoon of animal watching. We saw owls (spotted, horned, snowy) and wild cats (lynx, bobcat, cougar)some bears (black & grizzly) and tons of mountain goats and big horn sheep, some bison and deer and elk.
Jack refused to see the owls but he talked about them constantly. We would point them out and he would look everywhere but where we were pointing. Then he said "Ow-wal, see ow-wal there. Right there mommy." He liked it. But when we got on the tram he got pretty bored. The tram drives through about 400 acres of free roam area for the prey animals and the trip is about an hour. There were a lot of "under 3's" in the tram and one of them was having a particularly bad day. We don't mind screaming babies since we are often the parents of one, however the lady in front of us (who incidentally knew everything ) made mention of how awful "that kid" was. I looked at her two kids who were both over 8 years old and thought that they probably never acted like that when they were babies. I wish people wouldn't forget what it's like to have little ones. I find that people are often extremely judgmental about how people parent their little ones. They don't remember day to day life with a toddler. Discipline is rarely as easy as people make it sound like it should be. Jack was a good boy on the ride, although he kept saying "Move guy!" to the pre-teen boy sitting behind us. Luckily the boy didn't seem to notice since he was listening to our guide and looking out the window.
We also found time to look for a letterbox. It was only 3 miles up the road and we found it pretty easily. It was a cute stamp.
Happy mother's day to all you people out there that are/have a mother.

I'm glad your day was so pleasant. I enjoyed mine, too - hardly left the couch. I read, napped, read, napped, put in a load of laundry, napped, stitched... I guess you get the picture. It was so nice to be able to be so lazy after such a hard week. The good parts of the week were spent with my DD and her hubby, and my precious little guy. And I had a call from my DS, so it was almost complete.
I'm so proud of the mommy you are.
Glad you had a super day Cassie, you too Gramma :o)
Jack is such a little character, he will have such a personality when he's older!!
Oh boy, I can't imagine what he'll be like when he's older. LOL!
I agree Cassie, so sad that people, once their kids are big, pretend to not know what babies are like or act as know-it-alls. I love the 'bikit' word, wondering what mine will come up with. Shoes is 'Sshhh' so far and dog is 'Duh'.
Jack started talking early (I don't really remember how early) but he used to say "Ga" for everything. Ok so maybe he wasn't talking if he only said "Ga". LOL! See I'm already doing it... My mother-in-law talks about how her kids did everything early. I think she just forgets what the real timeframe was. I don't think any baby is potty trained by 12 months...
